Levi Benton Teague & Mary Frances Gann
Levi Benton Teague was born 16 May 1847, in Benton County, Al, the son of William Teague & Sarah Frances (Womack). He died on 31 December at Harmon, Lamar County, Texas and is buried at Dial, Fanin County, Texas.
In family circles, Levi is said to have been named Levi Benton Berryman Teague. I don't know if that is correct. I have a copy of a paper that was found in Martha Gray Gann's effects that tells when Levi and M.F. Gann were married. It is supposed to be a license/affadavit from the minister who married them. He gives Levi's middle name as Belton.
Levi had a son named Levi Ferryman and another one named Berryman. His daughter Catharine had twin sons named Benton and Belton.
He was scared to death by someone dropping a piece of furniture. The people that lived in the house before him had left a bed. When they came to get the bed, they dropped a piece and scared him to death. Levi was in bed sick at the time of his death according to family information. The Death Record shows cause of death as La Grippe.
