Robert was born in September 1845, the second child and first son of Richard and Ann Teague (nee Skinner) of Treverbyn, nr St Austell. He was baptised in St Austell parish church on 4 January 1846.
He appears on the 1861 census, at the age of 15, as an "assistant miller" in Polmassick, presumably to his father and he took over as miller in 1865. Robert's father, Richard died on 14 November 1865 (at the age of 45) and within weeks, on 7 February 1866, his mother Ann was dead too.
At the age of 20, Robert was effectively head of a household of five boys, the youngest being only 10 years old.
On 31 March, 1866 Robert married Eliza Perry, the 19 year old daughter of John Perry, a clay agent of Treverbyn, St Austell.
In 1879 the family moved to Mevagissey where Robert took over what became known as Teague's Water Mill. He is listed in the 1981 census as "miller and farmer". Although the mill was demolished at the turn of the century, there is a photograph of Robert TEAGUE outside the mill in Mevagissey Museum.

Robert is believed to have died c. 1898 when the family moved to Lancashire.
