Elijah died 6 March 1852 and was buried near Monroe City, IN. at the Wilson Creek Baptist Church, along with Lucretia Teague (presumably, his granddaughter), who died 2-5-1874. Lucretia's parents were T.J. & S.and her age was 3yrs,3mos,22das.

Elijah left no will, estate, nor any civil court records. However, a deed record was found where Elijah and 2nd wife Catherine Rudycil (married 2-17-1831) sold 100 acres of land on 3-10-1835 to Zadock Bozwell, for $150. An earlier deed dated 5-24-1830, showed that Abner Robinson sold the same parcel to Elijah and his heirs for $220. The NC Burke Co. Public Library provided a copy of a land grant awarded an Elijah Teague Jr.. 12-06-1838. Assuming that this is the same Elijah Teague (b.1788), and the IN.census data are fairly accurate, it is interesting to speculate what prompted Elijah to sell his 100 acre, Knox Co. farm, at a $70. loss, after owning it for only 5 years.

He was a widower with 5 children when he married Catherine Rudycil, 2-17-1832. Soon after, he and Caty had two daughters, Elizabeth (b. 4-15-1832) and Anna (b. ca 1834). Perhaps, 7 children were more than the farm could support or, was there ill-feeling between the half-brothers and sisters and stepmother?

There is also the question of Elijah's twin sons, Francis and John, who were supposedly born in NC. Was Wymer born in NC., also--rather than IN., as had been assumed? What prompted Elijah to return to NC in 1838 and to qualify for a land grant?
