Thomas & Mary TEAGUE, Memphis
THOMAS TEAGUE was born on 20 October 1832 and christened on 30 December
1832 in Ludgvan Parish, Cornwall, England, the son of Joseph Teague & Alice (Vivian).
He is listed as a miner in the 1850 federal census
in the Alice Teague household in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. In the 1860
census, he is married and the head of the Teague household in Memphis,
Tennessee and his occupation is listed as conductor. At that time, he was
married to one Mary Teague and they had two small daughters. In the
Memphis directory of that same year, his residence is on the south side of
Linden between Causey and Hernando and his occupation is conductor on the M
& T Railroad. According to our family lore, he later went to Africa to
build railroads and never came back.
