Introduction
Our Roots & Branches project aims to put online Record sheets for Teague families and where possible link them into family lines so that family members may be tracked across county, state and national boundaries.
We welcome input from anyone with a Teague connection anywhere in the world, whether you are a dedicated family historian with a ten generation, multi-branched family tree or a casual Teague visitor who can only guess at dates of birth for your grandfather and his siblings.
What is a Family Record?
Details of the format in which we prefer to receive data are on the Help page. Please take the time to read the Help page before sending in information.
Our Roots & Branches files are stored by region so that it is simple to browse through all the family lines we have on file for your particular county and/or state to see if your family is already recorded. A Family Line can be followed via the parent or child links on the Record Sheet. If your family line is listed and you can either add extra information or link the family to another generation, we would love to hear from you.
We have kept the onscreen format of the Record sheets simple and straightforward so that the pages can easily be copied into a word processor and printed out for passing on to family members who are not 'computerised'. If you know of 'technologically challenged' researchers who would be willing to share their data by snail mail, please contact the Resource Centre for the address.
Long term policy:
In order to guarantee continuing access, we intend to upload the Roots & Branches Project onto the Rootsweb server. Rootsweb is probably the largest online genealogical organisation, who are dedicated to providing free access to the records kept on their server. In addition they (& we) guarantee that none of the uploaded data will ever be copied and sold on CD-Rom.
We also guarantee not to pass on any information we hold on file to anyone other than registered Teague researchers and not to publish information on any living Teagues, beyond a name and date of birth, without direct permission.
Accessing the Family Records:
The Roots & Branches Project can be accessed in two ways. Either via our Researchers page, which holds links to individual researchers' family lines or by the index on the Roots & Branches main page. Each Family Record page is listed in the index and you can move 'up' or 'down' a tree via the links on parents or children. At the head of each country's listing on the index, you will find links to Family Trees compiled from the Family Record pages. From a Tree, you may click on any highlighted name to move to the family details. Hit your "Back" button to return to the tree. (Note: some of these Trees, particularly 'Descendants of Edward Teague' are Very Large and may take some time to load.)
In its most basic form, a group of a Teague parent and his/her children in some sort of timeframe (eg "circa 1870s") in a specified locality (eg "born in Texas/Cornwall/Pope Cty, Alabama/Ireland"). At the other end of the spectrum, a Family Record may contain lots of biographical detail of the parents, photos of the family/their home/final resting place etc, extracts of wills, deeds and leases; in fact anything which is relevant to the family. (Privacy note: we will not publish details of wills which are less than 75 years old.)

Thirty years ago, the Teague Family Memorial Association aimed to collect "the record of every Teague family in the United States."
We are going one stage further - we would eventually like to accumulate data on every Teague family anywhere and to make it freely available to future generations of Teague researchers.
